Outside Resources:
Research is alot easier now via the web just do a specific search for what your looking for and you are bound to come up with lots of sources. Look for information from places like AAA, tourist bureaus, state websites, Camping websites, National Park websites. Here is a list of links that I have for online resources I used.
Here are some links that I found usefull some might be very specific to places that we have gone but will give you an idea of what to look for.
If you are looking for camping spots don't forget to include in things like Boy Scout Camps, Girl Scout Camps, Public campgrounds like KOA, State and Fedral Land, etc...
Most tourist bureaus still offer a lot of free material so I would reccomend ordering as much info ahead of time for areas so you can have something to physically use in meetings, it is alot easier to pass around a book or pamphlet to see your options. But with laptops and tablets you can do alot right on the computer now.
National Parks - United States National Parks Website a general link to the enitre National Park Services, some of the parks have camping some are just places to visit but if you look around you might find some that offer group camping to groups like scouts.
Bureau of Land Managment (BLM) - Another US Government Site that offers recreational activities on public land - mainly geared to the western states. When navigating the site look for the recreational activities on the menu to the left side of the page.
State Parks:
Most states have websites dedicated to their state parks here are some that we have used, just do a search for the state you want and you are bound to find it.
Florida State Parks
Idaho State Parks
New York State Parks
Pennsylvania State Parks
Utah State Parks
Wyoming State Parks
